I guess the tears worked. Surprising possible victory by Clinton at this time (8:30 EST) in New Hampshire, but it’s neck and neck.
Looks like McCain, Romney, Huckabee (38%, 28%, 12%) on Republican side. Still open, but bad news for Romney.

Maybe they were worried that Obama was going to address the racial disparity in prison by putting more whites in jail.
The confused symbolism of a strong black man oppressing a white woman is short circuiting the liberal brain.
Usually it doesn’t cause them too much confusion or much reason for pause so long as the oppressed victim is a white woman. Society made them do it, don’t you know?
Hmmm, over at VFR, Auster writes:
Or, as Irving Babbitt put it, liberalism since its origins in the 18th century has consisted of two different liberalisms, which are sometimes at war with each other: the rationalistic, aimed at re-engineering society, and the romantic, aimed at some collective experience of liberation or human oneness. Hillary embodies the first liberalism, Obama the second. And the two are now indeed in a war.
Plausible enough, I suppose, but in this case Hillary’s female vulnerability triggered a temporary role reversal. It’s also possible that the triumphalist scenes following the Anointed One’s victory in Iowa struck discordant notes even in the hearts of white liberals.
I note that Obama, for coming in second, received nine delegates from New Hampshire. Lady Macbeth, for her stunning, emotional, momentum-swinging comeback, got . . . nine delegates.
And the question is, did Hillary’s camp rig the circus?
Not another right wing conspiracy!
