It’s not the end of the world if you let less qualified women and minorities into humanities, film, social science, and even law and medical programs. But there are some jobs that are kinda hard to fake your way through, and science and engineering are among them. I remember a friend jokingly remarked in college, as we were walking underneath some elevated roadway in Chicago, “Hey, I’m sure glad this science stuff is not just some sexist construct, but is, kinda, you know, real. Otherwise, I’d be a little concerned about that building toppling down upon us.”
Well, my friends, that day is here. Engineering programs are abandoning math in the name of diversity, as reported by Ace:
To Ensure “Diversity,” Engineering Will De-Emphasize Math, Equations In Favor of “Context, Ethics, and Communications”
Well, we all have to die of something, eh? Might as well die in a catastrophic tunnel failure. The new crop of engineers trained in “context, ethics, and communications” will probably be able to say a few nice words about the dead, maybe even something inspirational.
Political correctness, diversity, multiculturalism, and affirmative action are unjust, but they’re mostly annoyances. There comes a time, however, when the bullshit has to stop. That time is usually when another society (or another company), devoted to excellence and its own power, is on your doorstep telling you that you’re going to let them in . . . or else.
So between the unexamined failures of the Ricardo Sanchezes and Stanely O’Neals and all the anonymous Sanchezes and O’Neals in business and government everywhere, it would be nice if we could at least draw the line at important life-and-death stuff like medicine, the military, and engineering.

At one time, Constantinople was the most important city in the world, and the elites there concentrated on besting each other.
After playing their games for a while, and destroying their buffer states to show each other how great they were, there were no MEN standing between them and those who would take their greatness away.
So, in the end, and so that their sons did not have to suffer the ignominy of enforced sodomy by Sultan Mehmet II, senior Greeks were executed along with their sons.
A lesson in social engineering.
I couldn’t agree more with your stance on leaving critical jobs out of bounds to PC meddling. I’m sure the knaves pushing this along are the kind of soft science, careerist hacks that actual engineers loath. Common sense aside, even a cursory look at extant examples of similar schemes would hightlight the dangerous nature this line of action. South Africa has done trailblazing work in this area and the results have been poor, what a surprise. Oh well, when your channeling Lysenko sacrifices need to be made.
Soft psychology is the problem When inner wishful thinking replaces the hard factual realities disaster ensues.
You are watching the end of civilization unfold before your eyes. I would never have believed that hard science like engineering could have succombed to inner wishful thinking.
Well, you know they sent James Watson to limbo for telling the truth and now the very epotime of wishful thinking in sociology and politics and biology has been proclaimed.
As Country Joe once exclaimed, Hallejuyah, we’re all going to die.
