A welcome dose of rationality. I was starting to feel that old “Pavlovian response” from cold war days. “Soviets push; must push back!!! Soviets push; must push back!!!”

Roach reminds us that things are different now, and our own interests must come first.

Misha is in bed with Mukasey, your AG. The latter’s daddy emigrated from Russia and was smart enough to send his kid to law school in the USA. Interestingly, before becoming the attorney general, he was a partner at some heavyweight NYC law firm.

Misha’s dadday was also smart (and wealthy) enough to send his kid to law school in the states, before….drumroll…”Misha” joined the same NYC law firm.

All was lovely in matters jurisprudential until the Georgian Mensheviks sent word to Saakashvili that his muscle and legal-political milieu were needed to quell the neo-Bosheviks in Tskhinvali. Not to mention, to secure the pipeline.

It’s one thing to say we should not go to war for Georgia. It’s quite another to say we shouldn’t for ourselves. It’s a subtle difference, but I’m sure you can figure it out.

Well said, Mr. Roach. I am in total agreement. The Russia-Georgia issue is not the USA’s fight.

Also, Chechen terrorists were hiding out in Georgia when the Russian army was chasing them. (The USA made a lot of noise about that).

I also believe that the USA currently has approx. 150+ soldiers (“advisers” ?) in Georgia at this time.

In addition. McCain is all for confrontations with Russia.
