Interesting article on the twists and turns of mental health care over the last 75 or so years. The author notes that the gnostic aspects of Freudian psychoanalysis have essentially given way to either a) the provision of drugs by primary care doctors and b) the provision of “artificial friends” by the various counselors, psychotherapists, and other non-MD providers of counseling.
