It is insulting beyond belief what the state is doing in the Zimmerman case. They have allowed a low IQ, easily manipulated, and thoroughly coached woman be the lynchpin of a murder case where the physical evidence contradicts them at every turn. Obviously in a great many criminal cases the witnesses will not be polished or educated. But this “ear”-witness’s testimony showed up on the scene only after she was summoned by the Martin family and manipulated by Ben Crump and the prosecutors. Her testimony has changed repeatedly, is riddled with lies, and was buttressed by a letter from the witness that she cannot even read and that her scribe signed with an imaginary name.
God help George Zimmerman who was beaten and nearly killed on a dark and rainy night in his own neighborhood, where he tried to take a small stand in favor of law and order, and is now being persecuted with a possible life sentence. Did Trayvon “deserve” it strictly speaking? No. Battery is not a capital offence, and as a young man he may well have outgrown his hothead stage. It’s sad for him and his family the way this turned out. But the law of self defense is not about justice, rough or otherwise. It’s a small sliver of legal permission to use deadly force when the alternative is a law abiding person getting pummelled, shot at, home invaded, threatened with death, or any of the other relevant times it may be allowed.
Yes, insanity is a good description for it. I hope he gets acquitted and gets a book deal big enough to cover the legal fees and the upcoming civil lawsuit.
Just about everything about contemporary Murica is insane.
We now have political trials in the United States that resemble those of the Soviet Union, only the grounds for the “purge” being different — rather than alleged anti-Soviet acts, the state will now come after you at the behest of offended “victim” groups.
I never thought I’d say this, but … living in the United States makes me afraid.
The real question is whether Latinos will feel the same sense of solidarity with Zimmerman that blacks feel with Martin.
I know how you feel, Mr. Darby. Who would have thought back in the ’80s, that we would have dissidents seeking to defect – to Russia! Ronald Reagan wept…
Dear God, this has turned into Night Court 2013!
Contempt of Court? I have nothing but contempt for this court.
