Great long article about how much of science, and particularly social science though hard sciences too, are full of falsified data, hiding BS behind complex official-looking equations, and the complete breakdown of much of the scientific enterprise. This is not a surprise, though, is it? It’s not like you can have a complete devolution of character in society and not expect authority figures in particular to become merely exploitive and self-aggrandizing.
Why does this matter? Because we are more and more deferential and reverent towards science than ever before even though, I would hazard, educated people are probably less scientifically literate than ever before. Yes, they can beat their chests that they believe in evolution or global warming, but if you asked them why? Or how you would prove otherwise, it’s quite clear they have a new kind of materialistic, anti-god, self-worshiping religion, not the skeptical, data-driven instict of science.
In any case, the next time you’re told “they say . . . .” be skeptical. They might be a bunch of morally reprobate, tenure-seeking charlatans like the kooks portrayed in the article.
