The media and the DOJ are out to destroy another cop’s career, this time for forcefully, but quickly, arresting a female student in a classroom. We’re told by wise liberals that these cops shouldn’t be in charge of discipline, but they seem to have forgotten that cops today are doing what teachers did only a generation ago, but do not any longer. Both, it seems, are being reduced in authority, as both are increasingly hemmed in by lawsuits, idiotic rules, and unrealistic expectations of playing nice that demoralize them over time. Teachers can’t grab, yell at, or otherwise deal with out-of-control kids. And they work in increasingly ill disciplined schools populated by kids from homes without dads, that is to say, homes with very weak discipline. So like we’re now seeing with cops, they basically went hands off. In this case, the arm-chair quarterbacking is so quaint, as if you can arrest some one who isn’t going willingly without using some force.
Obama seems to be backing off his anti-cop crusade because it’s acquiring a life of its own in places like Baltimore and Ferguson. But his and the other Democrats’ story isn’t straight. We’re told there is lower violence, coupled with mass incarceration. No one notices the cause and effect.
At the same time, we’re told millions of law abiding Americans must be disarmed to prevent the occasional, outlier psycho mass shooting.
And we’re told to second guess the Cambridge Cop, and the Ferguson Cop, and the NYPD, and all cops in general every time they have a negative encounter with a minority. This is a pattern. And when those minorities have negative encounters with whites, this is not a pattern. Get it?
If real crime gets real bad, the liberals’ quaint flirtation with being soft on crime again, which destroyed them in the 70s and 80s, may set them back a bit, particularly among sensible, law-abiding people. In the meantime, let’s all freak out about an ordinary piece of police work.
